Carburizing steel sheet 20MnCr5 / 1.7147 / 20ХГ
Carburizing steel sheet grade 20MnCr5 complies with European standard EN10084. Refers to low-carbon steels, with a carbon content of 0.17 to 0.22%. Some properties of the material are provided by the content of silicon, manganese and chromium.
Special properties
To acquire some characteristics, steel carburization is carried out – a thermal process of surface diffusion saturation of it with carbon. This allows the material to acquire sufficient hardness and wear resistance.
Carburizing of metal is carried out at a temperature of 880 to 980 degrees. At the end of the process, hardening is performed, causing the formation, in the surface layer, of the martensite phase, and subsequent tempering. Surface hardening of steel occurs at a temperature of 780 to 820 degrees, and tempering – from 150 to 200 degrees.
As a result, EN10084 acquires high weather resistance, shape stability, strength, durability. Steel lends itself easily to various types of processing.
Applications
20MnCr5 sheet steel is successfully used in the production of pipes, bent profile products, car body parts, equipment for the chemical industry, electrical cabinets, building structures, building facade finishing elements.
