Nickel-copper alloys of the Monel family were first introduced at the beginning of the past century. A heat-resistant alloy sheet is often called “monel metal”, its closest domestic counterpart is considered to be NMZhMts28-2.5-1.5 steel (copper-nickel alloy).
Features
Monel 400 stainless steel sheet is distinguished by such characteristics as:
corrosion resistance;
Good ductility;
Easy processing;
High strength.
The alloy is one of the few materials that can resist oxidation when burned in pure oxygen. This alloy has unique mechanical characteristics. In particular, with a technological increase in strength due to the introduction of additional additives, ductility practically does not decrease.
The main difference between the Monel 400 steel grade and other non-ferrous alloys is that during critical cooling to ultra-low temperatures (up to -250°C) the material does not become brittle. Depending on the components included, the final version of the alloy may or may not have magnetic properties at standard room temperature (+20-22°C).
Application
MONEL 400 is used for the production of equipment parts, machine tools. The alloy is in demand in the electronics industry. The material is also used for technological spraying on steel elements of equipment in order to prevent possible corrosion processes.
