Keyed steel DIN 6880

Depending on the application, keys made using DIN 6880 keyed stainless steel must be resistant to deformation, dynamic and static, as well as frictional loads.

The key itself belongs to calibrated rolled metal, with high surface quality and precise parameters.

Special Properties

You can buy DIN 6880 steel:

– carbonaceous, with a large proportion of carbon and a small amount of impurities. Such material is not prone to casting defects and can be improved by heat treatment to increase strength;

– austenitic alloyed with molybdenum. Such a stainless steel is characterized by resistance to acids and alkalis, which allows the use of products made from it in aggressive environments for quite a long time. Given these material properties, the price of DIN 6880 austenitic will be slightly higher.

Applications

A key, which is a specially shaped bar made of special steel, serves to fix mating elements of various mechanisms and prevention of their displacement. These can be pulleys, flywheels, gears, etc.
