In the future, research on electric welding equipment should be carried out in the following direction: the study of welding machines and apparatus in the development of scientific foundations for the design of new systems of welding equipment, mainly the theoretical foundations of design based on the analysis of the dynamic processes of welding generators; study of the parameters of the stable combustion mode and the energy balance of high-power arcs used to intensify welding processes; design of welding equipment, especially) multi-station generators, high power transformers, devices for automatic control during welding, rectifiers of special machines for underwater welding and cutting.
Work on electric welding equipment should be carried out at the Moscow State Technical University. Bauman, in the electric welding section of the Academy of Sciences, as well as at the Moscow Power Engineering Institute with the involvement of a special department for electrical engineering.
Problems of deformation caused by welding
Research on contact welding for a number of years was carried out at the Central Institute of Mechanical Engineering (AS Gelman), Moscow State Technical University. Bauman (K. K. Khrenov, N. L. Kaganov), the Institute of Electric Welding of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR (E. O. Paton, etc.), the Institute of Agricultural Engineering and other organizations. A lot of work was carried out at the factories. Molotov and at a number of aviation industry plants. In the United States, research on resistance welding has received great attention in connection with its application in the car building, automotive and aircraft industries.
The objectives of resistance welding research are: development of new designs of contact welding machines, mainly high power, for welding butt, spot and seam joints with automatic control during welding; development of various specialized contact machines and aggregate installations (butt welding for welding large sections and different profiles, for welding pipes, portable point machines, etc.); development of measures to increase the coefficient of use of electrical energy in contact welding and increase the durability of machines; further development of rational technological processes for resistance welding of carbon and alloy steels of various profiles and thicknesses; development of metallurgical processes for welding various steels by the contact method and measures to combat the formation of cracks; in-depth study of the mechanical properties of welded joints obtained by contact welding..
